BROWNWOOD, TEXAS – The Howard Payne University men's tennis team dropped a conference match this weekend to McMurry University 4-5.
The Howard Payne number one doubles team of
Hunter Green and
Micah Hunter started the match dropping the doubles points 8-5.
Logan Knight and Nicholas Gates, in number two doubles fell 8-5. The number three doubles team of
Christian Fernandez and
Landon Ferree fell in a close match 8-7.
The Yellow Jackets, who were expecting to fair better in the doubles points, finished strong in singles action claiming four of the six points.
Micah Hunter,
Christian Fernandez, and
Landon Ferree won the four, five and six singles points in three sets.
Micah Hunter won 2-7, 7-6(9-7), 11-9. Fernandez won 7-6(7-4), 5-7, 10-4. Ferree won 6-4, 5-7, 10-5.
Logan Knight won number three singles 6-3, 6-4.
The Yellow Jackets finished out the 2021-22 season narrowly missing a spot in the ASC championship tournament.
