BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University softball team finished out its 2022 season with a 9-1 loss on Saturday to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor at Lady Jacket Field.

Tori Muro recorded her first homer of the season in the second inning giving the Lady Jackets their only run of the game.Â
Mary Hardin-Baylor put up three runs in the second inning to take the lead 3-0. Later, UMHB added five more runs in the third, and one in the fourth to make it a 9-1 game.Â

Tori Muro led HPU at the plate both going 1-for-2.Â
Heather Wineman recorded the loss as the starting pitcher. Wineman pitched 2.0 innings and gave up seven runs on nine hits with one strikeout.
Isabella Buckley threw in relief pitching 2.0 innings recording two runs on four hits.
Bree Cason pitched the remaining 1.0 inning allowing no runs on one hit.Â
The Lady Jackets finish the season at 5-38 overall and 2-28 in American Southwest Conference play.
