BELTON, Texas- For the start of its season, the Howard Payne University volleyball team lost 3-0 to both University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and Schreiner University, Thursday in Belton, Texas.
Game One
The Lady Jackets dropped three sets to the UMHB Crusaders by the scores of 25-6, 25-14, 25-17.
Carsyn Bilbrey had six kills for Howard Payne.
Riley Brittain led the team in assists and digs for this match with eight assists and 13 digs. She was followed by
Kaitlyn Elsten with seven assists and
Hannah Vega with 11 digs.
Game Two
The first two sets against Schreiner University ended by the scores 25-15 and 25-12. With the Lady Jackets' one last attempt to battle back, the set ended by the score 25-21. The Lady Jackets fell 3-0 to SU.
HPU's
Abbie Knepper had five kills. Leading the Yellow Jackets,
Kaitlyn Elsten had nine assists and
Hannah Vega had 13 digs. They were followed by
Riley Brittain with seven assists and 11 digs.
Lady Jackets start the 2022 season 0-2. They will be back in action Friday, Sept. 2
nd in another double-header in Belton, Texas, against Centenary College at 1:00 PM and Hendrix College at 3:30 PM.
