BROWNWOOD, Texas- In its first game of the season, the Howard Payne University women's soccer team lost 2-1 to the University of St. Thomas, Thursday afternoon at Gordon Wood Stadium.
St. Thomas scored in the 26
th minute of the match, and then again in the 43
rd minute, making the score 2-0 at the half.
During the second half, HPU's
Karlee Friebele scored the first and only goal in the 67
th minute of the match. The Lady Jackets defense stepped it up and held St. Thomas at two for the remainder of the game.
HPU and UST each took two shots and four shots on goal.
Hannah Noel had the second shot on goal for HPU.
Emily Williamson played all 90 minutes as goal keeper for Howard Payne. She allowed two goals and had two saves.
The Lady Jackets are now 0-1 on the season and will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 3
rd, at Citizens National Bank Field in Brownwood, Texas. They will take on Texas Lutheran University at 2:00 PM.
