BROWNWOOD, Texas- The Howard Payne University Lady Jackets break the standing school record of most goals scored in a single game! The previous record was eight goals, and they won 9-0 against Texas College! Freshman
Abby Harrison also ended the game with a hat trick!

Howard Payne got off 38 shots on goal (a new school record), while Texas College only took one shot. The Lady Jackets also broke the school record for most total shots by the team in a game with 60. the previous record was 53 against Louisiana College in 2010 and the most point by the team in a game record (9 goals, 6 assists) with 24 points. The previous record was versus McMUrry with 22 in 2009.
The first goal of the game was shot by HPU's
Carrie Gerdes in the 18
th minute, on an assist by
Kate Recendez. In the 28
th minute,
Abby Harrison scored her first of three goals on an assist from
Karlee Friebele. Just a few minutes after her assist, Friebele then turned around a scored a goal. For her second goal,
Abby Harrison scored in the 33
rd minute. For the last shot of the half,
Ella Alvarado gave an assist to
Brenna Douthit to make the score 4-0 at half time.

Abby Harrison scores her third goal for a hat trick in the 71
st minute. Next, followed a goal from
Veaney Cazares with a pass from
Brooke Scott. To end the game and to break the school record,
Ella Alvarado had her second goal of the game assisted by
Marisah Mata in the 88
th minute!
In goal for HPU,
Emily Williamson played for 25 minutes and
Stephanie Sanders played the reaming 65 minutes.

The Lady Jackets are currently 3-1-1 on the season. This Saturday, Sept. 17
th, they will be on their home field versus Oklahoma Panhandle State University at 2:00 pm!
