SHERMAN, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's soccer team outshot Austin College 36-5 but finished in a 2-2 tie with Roos Tuesday evening in non-conference action.
Howard Payne had 15 shots on goal to Austin College's 2 and also held a 14-2 advantage in corner kicks in the game.
With the Roos leading 1-0 at the half, the Lady Jackets got a score from
Shaylea Bolton in the 70th minute, assisted by
Kate Recendez.
Austin College responded back in the 75th minute but HPU tied it back at 2-2 just four minutes later on a goal by
Brenna Douthit, assist
Kendra Cecil.
Douthit led with six total shots, three on goal,
Marisah Mata had five shots, and
Hannah Noel and
Katie Burnside each had four shots.
Emily Williamson played the first 45 minutes in goal for HPU.
Stephanie Sanders played the second period in goal for the Lady Jackets.
Howard Payne is now 1-1-1 overall and Austin College stands at 0-2-1 on the year. The Lady Jackets will play next on Sept. 11th at Centenary College at 12:00 noon.
