BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne University men's basketball team dropped a home conference game 96-76 to Sul Ross State University Saturday afternoon at the Brownwood Coliseum.
The Yellow Jackets were led by
Armonie Ramey with 15 points, five rebounds, and three assists.
Miles Koehler followed with nine points and six rebounds. Also with nine points, was
Harold Myart recording four rebounds.
Jarod Johnson and
Myles Brown added three assists each, while
Jerren Godfrey added three steals.
The Jackets shot 43.3% from the field, while the Lobos connected on 48.6% of their shots.
With just a five point lead at the half 53-48 Lobos, the Jackets would get outscored in the second half 43-28 for a final score of 96-76.
Sul Ross was led by Luke Pluymen with 26 points, followed by Caelyb Kerley with 18 points.
Howard Payne is now 2-14 overall and 0-9 in American Southwest Conference while Sul Ross State improves to 5-11, 2-7 in league play. The Jackets will take on University of the Ozarks on Thursday, January 19
th at home. Tip-off is at 7:30 pm.
