BROWNWOOD, Texas – Howard Payne University's
Bria Neal scored a game-high 20 points in a 92-56 loss to East Texas Baptist University Thursday evening in the Brownwood Coliseum.
HPU's
Bria Neal was 8 of 12 from the field and 4 of 4 from the line to lead all scorers with 20 points.
Anna Beamesderfer followed Neal with 12 points and was also 4 of 4 from the free-throw line.
Asia Mitchell pulled down a game-high seven rebounds.
The Lady Jackets found themselves down early, 25-14 at the end of the first quarter. ETBU shot 55% from the field in the first half while holding HPU to 35% shooting to gain a 50-30 halftime advantage.
ETBU held the rebounding lead in the game 41-31 and gained a 54-16 advantage in points in the paint over HPU.
The Tigers were led by Jayla Hill with 13 points and Jade Goynes with 12 points.
Howard Payne is now 2-11 overall and 0-7 in American Southwest Conference play. ETBU stands at 11-2 on the year and 5-1 in league action. The Lady Jackets will take on LeTourneau University on Saturday at 1:00 pm in the Brownwood Coliseum.
