RICHARDSON, Texas --The Howard Payne University volleyball team fell to the UT Dallas Comets 3-1 (18-25, 14-25, 27-25, 18-25) Friday on the road at the UTD Activity Center.
The loss dropped Howard Payne's record to 10-9 overall and 5-7 in ASC play.
Brooke O'Neal finished with eight kills on the day to lead the Lady Jackets attack. Defensively, HPU had three players reach double figures in digs, including Brylee Awbrey's 18, 11 from Riley Brittain, and 10 more from Kassidy Johnson.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Lady Jackets found themselves in an early deficit, dropping a tough first set 25-18. Howard Payne trailed by as many as nine points asUT Dallas never gave up the lead in a set that was never tied up before the Comets took control.
SET 2 | Howard Payne lost set two 25-14, digging a 2-0 deficit in the match. Howard Payne trailed by as many as 12 points as UT Dallas grabbed the advantage for good at 4-3 in a set that was knotted up two times before the Comets took over the lead.
SET 3 | Howard Payne got on the board after a win in set three to make it a 2-1 match. The Lady Jackets won the set 27-25 propelled by a strong showing on the attacking side. Howard Payne put together a .318 attack percentage with 18 kills in the set win. After the lead changed hands eight times, the Lady Jackets took control for good at 26-25 and rode that advantage to victory.
SET 4 | Howard Payne couldn't keep the rally going and fell in the fourth set 25-18 to drop the match. The Lady Jackets trailed by as many as seven points as UT Dallas grabbed the advantage for good at 16-15 and Howard Payne wasn't able to recover in a set that was tied up five times before the Comets took over in the second half of the stanza.
The Lady Jackets will be on the road Saturday, October 21st taking on LeTourneau at 1:00 PM as they look to bounce back from a tough loss in ASC play.
