BROWNWOOD, Texas -- The Howard Payne University women's soccer team fought back from a 1-0 deficit to beat LeTourneau 3-1 Friday (Oct. 27) at home at Citizens National Bank Field.
The victory improved Howard Payne's record to 8-6-2 overall and 4-2-2 in ASC play. Graduate defender Kendra Cecil broke the record for most appearances in a game for a career with 76.
How it Happened
LeTourneau grabbed a 1-0 lead when Gabriella Sanchez scored in the ninth minute.
The Lady Jackets evened the game on a goal from Tatum Mercer -- her first goal of the season -- in the 37th minute.
Howard Payne went ahead 2-1 on Ella Alvarado's 69th-minute goal, her second of the season. Madison Nance assisted the goal.
The Lady Jackets made it a 3-1 lead with a 73rd-minute goal from Brenna Douthit, her third goal of the season. Loghan Craig assisted the goal. The score finished the 3-1 game.
Brenna Douthit and Ella Alvarado led the way for the HPU offense, both registering four shots a piece, including a goal for each Lady Jacket.

- Emily Williamson collected one save for the Lady Jackets out of three total LeTourneau shots.
- Howard Payne peppered 10 shots on goal.
The Lady Jackets will be back in action Saturday, October 28th in their final match of the regular season. HPU will take on East Texas Baptist University at Citizens National Bank Field with a kick-off of 5:00 PM.
