Lady Jackets Drop Road Contest Versus Hardin-Simmons

ABILENE, Texas – The Howard Payne University women's basketball team lost to the Hardin-Simmons University Cowgirls 99-64 in Abilene, Texas on Thursday, December 7th.
 
The Cowgirls came out of the gate hot as they took an early 28-13 lead at the end of the first quarter, powered by 20 points in the paint. Despite only being outscored by three points in the second half, The Lady Jackets would not be able to overcome the first-half deficit, losing 99-64.
 
HPU lost the battle on the glass 36-32 while giving up seven offensive rebounds. Hardin-Simmons was able to force 26 Lady Jacket turnovers that led to 34 points.
 
Howard Payne shot 47.2% (25-53) from the field while knocking down four three-pointers at a 30.8% clip. Hardin-Simmons shot 55.2% (37-67) from the field, also adding seven treys as well.
 
Anna Beamesderfer led the way for the Lady Jackets, scoring ten points. Following behind was Trynadee Greenwell and Taysie Trejo who scored 10 points each.
 
Leading the way for the Cowgirls was Paris Kiser who scored 21 points while snatching eight rebounds as well. Samantha Tatum followed behind with 15 points.
 
HPU will be back in Abilene, Texas on Saturday, December 9th as they take on McMurry University with tip-off set for 1:00 PM.
