ALPINE, Texas - Howard Payne University's Asia Mitchell led the Lady Jackets with a double-double in an 83-53 loss at Sul Ross State University Saturday afternoon to closeout the 2022-23 season.

HPU Asia Mitchel had 11 points with 11 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. Bria Neal led HPU in scoring with 12 points along with nine rebounds. Trynadee Greenwell finished with a career-high seven assists.

With a strong first half by HPU, the Lady Jackets trailed 35-32 at the half. HPU would outrebound the Lobos 46-40 in the game but 35.6% shooting from the field and 35 Lady Jacket turnovers proved to be the difference in the game.

HPU's Bria Neal finishes the season with 1,144 career points (10th all-time at HPU) and with 669 rebounds (7th all-time at HPU).

Sul Ross State was led by Kayley Diaz with 18 points followed by Victoria Aguayo with 14 points.

Howard Payne finished the season 2-23 overall and 0-18 in American Southwest Conference action. Sul Ross State stands at 15-12 overall and 11-7 in league play.
