BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University men's tennis team played three tie-breaker sets with LeTourneau University in an 8-1 conference loss Saturday afternoon at HPU's Nabers Tennis Center.
Howard Payne narrowly dropped the first two doubles points 8-6 and 8-4. But in one of the most hard fought matches of the day, HPU's
Micah Hunter and
Landon Ferree fell 8-7 in a tie-breaker in the number three double match.
Every singles match was close with the number three and four singles matches going to a very close three set and the number six singles point being taken by HPU in a second set tie-break.
HPU's
Sebastian Soria fell 4-6, 6-2, 12-10 in number three singles, and
Landon Ferree also fell in a third set 4-6, 7-6, 10-4.
HPU's
Nicolas Gates won his number six singles match 7-5, 7-6 to claim the Jackets only team point.
