GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Howard Payne Yellow Jacket baseball team lost to the Southwestern University Pirates from a walk off homerun this afternoon, 3-2.
It was a scoreless game until the bottom of the fourth inning when Southwestern was able to put one run on the board.
In the top of the seventh, the Jackets took the lead 2-1.
Joey Villarreal singled to shortstop bringing home Sam Lampson.
Taylor Griner was able to bring in the second run for the Jackets from a single to first base.
Southwestern tied up the game quickly in the seventh inning from a homerun.
The game stayed at 2-2 until the bottom of the ninth inning, when Southwestern was able to hit a walk off homerun to win 3-2.
Will Burford lead the Jackets at the plate going 2-for-3 at the plate.

Brendan Read pitched 8.2 innings with three strikeouts.
The HPU Yellow Jackets will face the Pirates again on Saturday, March 11 in Georgetown, Texas for the remaining two games of the three game series, playing at 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
