ABILENE, Texas - The Howard Payne University softball had a strong showing on day two against Hardin-Simmons University despite 3-0 and 3-1 double-header losses Saturday afternoon.
Game One
HPU's
Alexia Perkkio and
McKeanne Saenz each recorded two hits in the Lady Jackets 3-0 loss. Perkkio also had a double and stolen base.
Lady Jacket
Bree Cason recorded the loss in the start allowing three runs on five hits in a complete game.
Game Two
Down 2-0 going into the fifth inning, HPU's
Deandra Longoria drove in
Amber Williams on double to right field.
The Lady Jackets would have the tying run on base in the top of the seventh but stranded two runners in the 3-1 final.
Longoria led the Lady Jackets going 2-for-2 at the plate with the RBI double.
Sydney West got the loss in the start for HPU allowing three runs on eight hits in a complete game.
The Lady Jackets will play next on Tuesday, April 4th at home versus non-conference opponent Centenary College in a double-header starting at 1:00 pm
