BROWNWOOD, Texas -- The Howard Payne University women's soccer team got goals from Madison Nance and Brenna Douthit in a 2-0 shutout win over Centenary (LA) Saturday (Sept. 23) at home at Citizens National Bank Field.
Howard Payne improved to 4-4-0 overall after the victory.
How it Happened
Howard Payne started the scoring when Madison Nance notched her first goal of the season in the 62nd minute.
The Lady Jackets took a 2-0 lead on a goal from Brenna Douthit -- her first goal of the season -- in the 62nd minute, assisted by Alexandria Barnett. Neither team added another goal in the match.
Emily Williamson and Chandler Sorrell split time at goal, each receiving 45 minutes of action.
Brenna Douthit led HPU with four shots followed by a trio of Lady Jackets with two shots a piece, earning HPU a total of 17 shots with seven on goal.

The Lady Jackets will travel to Richardson, Texas Thursday, September 28th to take on UT Dallas with a kick off of 5:00 PM. This will be the conference opener in what is a double-header for the HPU soccer program as the men's team will play directly after.
