RICHARDSON, Texas -- The Howard Payne University women's soccer team and UT Dallas played to a 1-1 draw Thursday (Sept. 28) on the road at UTD Soccer Complex in what was the conference opener.
The draw moved Howard Payne's record to 4-4-1 overall and 0-0-1 in ASC action.
How it Happened
Howard Payne grabbed a 1-0 lead when Regan Noel scored her first goal of the season in the 40th minute. This was the first goal UT Dallas has given up this season.
The Comets responded to tie the game on a goal from Ashlynn Thomas in the 73rd minute, assisted by Kate Meyer. The goal closed the scoring in the match.
Brenna Douthit and Addie Carroll led the Lady Jackets in shots with two a piece. Eight other Lady Jackets followed behind registering one shot each.
Game Notes
- Emily Williamson piled up seven saves for the Lady Jackets out of 12 total Comets shots.
- Howard Payne registered six shots on goal.
HPU will be back in action Saturday, September 30th as they travel to the University of the Ozarks for their second conference match of the 2023 season. The Lady Jackets will kickoff at 2:00 PM with the men's program following directly after.
