BROWNWOOD, Texas --The Howard Payne volleyball team got the job done in three sets (25-11, 25-13, 25-19) to knock off the Tuesday at home at Brownwood Coliseum.
The out-of-conference victory improved the Yellow Jackets' overall record to 12-10 on the season.
Makenzie Weddel finished with 10 kills on the day to lead the Yellow Jackets offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .28. Defensively, had two players reach double figures in digs as Tara Bennett had 11 and Kassidy Johnson had 11. From the front row, Ryann Jones contributed five blocks.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Yellow Jackets won the first point and never trailed to win the first set 25-11. Howard Payne opened up its biggest lead, 14 points, to finish off the set. Howard Payne also supplemented their offense with three aces in the opening set.
SET 2 | After their win in the first set, Howard Payne put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-13 victory in set number two. The Yellow Jackets scored first and never trailed in the set to secure the victory. Howard Payne opened its biggest lead of the stanza, 12 points, to close out the set. The Yellow Jackets hit .333 over the course of the set. Howard Payne's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four attacks in the stanza.
SET 3 | Howard Payne then capped the three-set sweep with a victory in set number three. The Yellow Jackets took control of the set early when the score was 6-5 and held the lead the rest of the way to win 25-19. Howard Payne led by nine points at 19-10 before closing out the stanza. The Howard Payne offense also got a boost from four aces in the stanza.
The Lady Jackets will be in action next against the University of Dallas in Sherman, Texas. The game is set for 2 P.M.
