ABILENE, Texas --The Howard Payne University women's basketball team came up short in a 108-35 loss to the Abilene Christian University Wildcats on the road Tuesday.
Tatum Walker led the Lady Jackets (3-9) with six points. Azaylee Santos also tacked on seven points and Caitlyn Panuco helped out with six points.
How It Happened
Howard Payne struggled out of the gate, falling behind 26-14 at the end of the first quarter.
The Lady Jackets continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 47-19 halftime deficit.
Howard Payne's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Lady Jackets faced an 82-30 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Howard Payne played well near the basket, scoring eight of its 11 points in the paint.
Howard Payne could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 108-35. Howard Payne fired away from deep in the quarter, knocking down one shot to account for three of its five points.
