BROWNWOOD, Texas --Seven Yellow Jackets scored in double digits and Howard Payne beat the Austin Kangaroos 137-81 at home Monday.

The Yellow Jackets (7-6) had seven players score in double figures, led by Armonie Ramey, who had 20 points and three steals. Mason McGowen added 18 points from the bench and Jarod Johnson chipped in as well with 15 points, six rebounds, nine assists and three steals off of the bench.

Howard Payne out-rebounded Austin 46-39 in Monday's game, led by Johnson's six boards. The Yellow Jackets also collected 11 offensive rebounds and scored 17 second chance points.

Howard Payne forced 28 Austin turnovers while committing 13 themselves in Monday's game. The Yellow Jackets turned those takeaways into 44 points on the offensive end of the floor. Riley Fornerette's five steals led the way for Howard Payne.

How It Happened

After jumping out to a 31-24 advantage, Howard Payne went on a 9-0 run with 7:57 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Ben Phillip, to increase its lead to 40-24. The Yellow Jackets then added eight points to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 61-37 advantage. Howard Payne capitalized on 15 Austin turnovers in the period, turning them into 19 points on the other end of the floor.

Following intermission, Howard Payne kept widening that lead, expanding it to 81-55 before going on a 9-0 run, finished off by McGowen's three, to grow the lead to 90-55 with 13:18 to go in the contest. The Yellow Jackets kept expanding the margin and coasted the rest of the way for the 137-81 win. Howard Payne shot well from three-point range in the half, hitting 16 shots from deep to score 48 of its 76 points.
