AUSTIN, Texas - Howard Payne University had 20-point games from Jarod Johnson and Hudson Johnson in a 93-88 conference loss at Concordia University Texas Thursday evening.

HPU's Jarod Johnson and Hudson Johnson scored 24 and 21 points respectively for the Yellow Jackets in the 93-88 road loss at Concordia Texas.

The Yellow Jackets jumped out to an early 15-1 lead in the game and held a 45-37 advantage at the halftime break.

Concordia picked up their offense in the second period outscoring Howard Payne 56-43 to claim the win.

Both teams committed 14 turnovers and CTX held a slight 53-46 rebounding edge. It was 39.4% shooting from the field in the second period by HPU that proved to be a major factor in the outcome.

Ben Phillip added 14 points to the Jackets numbers followed by Armonie Ramey with nine points. Hudson Johnson led HPU in rebounding with eight.

Concordia was led by Donovan Stafford with 38 points and 10 rebounds followed by Marcus Vizcarrondo with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Howard Payne now sits at 10-11 overall and 4-9 in conference action. Concordia is 9-11 overall and 6-6 in league play. The Yellow Jackets will be at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday for a conference game starting at 3:00 pm.
