SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Howard Payne University softball team dropped its season opener double-header 2-0 and 5-0 Tuesday evening.
GAME 1 | Trinity (TX) 2, Howard Payne 0
Senior
Bree Cason (0-1) started and took the loss in the circle for Howard Payne (0-1). The
right-hander went six innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on three hits, allowing no walks and striking out four.
In the batter's box, the Yellow Jackets were led by junior
Makayla Wesley, who went 1-for-3 on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Howard Payne did not advance a runner past second base in the game. The Yellow Jackets went 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the second, when junior
Kamryn Gomez made it into scoring position with two outs.

Elise Munoz led the way offensively for the Yellow Jackets, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Howard Payne managed one chance with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position. The Yellow Jackets last got a runner on third in the sixth, when Munoz made it 60 feet away from scoring with nobody out.
