BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University baseball team dropped a home doubleheader with the University of Dallas 5-0 and 3-0 Saturday afternoon at Don Shepard Park.
GAME ONE
B. Ferrie (2-0) started and took the loss on the mound for Howard Payne (3-1). The
right-hander went 4.1 innings, giving up four runs, zero earned, on four hits, allowing one walk and striking out one. G. Beaver was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going 1.1 shutout innings without allowing a hit, walking one and striking out one.
J. Earle led the way offensively for the Yellow Jackets, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Howard Payne managed zero chances with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position. The Yellow Jackets last got a runner on third in the second, when Earle made it 90 feet away from scoring with one out.
