BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne University men's tennis team hosted Concordia (TX) in what was the Yellow Jacket's first ASC matchup of the year. HPU fell 9-0 to the Tornados on Saturday.
The Yellow Jackets opened up play in doubles where they would drop all three sets. The number one and two doubles posted top scores for HPU, featuring
Nicolas Gates and
Caleb Lambert in the number one spot (8-2) and
Christian Fernandez and
Sebastian Soria in the number two spot (8-2).
In singles action, HPU's
Michael Woodard took the first set 6-4 in the number six singles slot, but lost 6-0 and 10-8 to end the match. The Yellow Jackets would lose in straight sets from there on.
Howard Payne will be back in action February 16
th as they travel to Seguin, Texas to take on Texas Lutheran University.
