LONGVIEW, Texas - The Howard Payne University men's tennis team took down LeTourneau 5-4 behind a match-clinching victory from
Landon Ferree on Wednesday.
The Yellow Jackets were able to start off strong as they took two of the three doubles matches versus LeTourneau.
Sebastian Soria and
Landon Ferree claimed number two doubles with an 8-7 win while
Michael Woodard and
Riley Harker won number three doubles 8-7.
HPU was able to continue the momentum into singles to win the match 5-4.
Caleb Lambert would be the first Jacket to earn a set victory defeating Alex Barrero 7-6, 6-3 in the three slot.
Riley Harker would follow with a strong performance in number six singles taking down Timothy Black 6-3, 6-2 to tie LeTourneau 4-4.
Landon Ferree was able to give HPU the match-winning point as he defeated Liam Wedge 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 in number four singles.
The Yellow Jackets will travel to Richardson, Texas to take on UT Dallas on April 4th with match time set for 1:00 PM.
