TUCSON, AZ --The Howard Payne Yellow Jackets had a tough showing on Saturday, falling to the Carthage Red Men by final score of 13-1.

Brayden Ferrie (1-3) started and took the loss on the mound for Howard Payne (6-7).

Derek Gifford led the way offensively for the Yellow Jackets, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a double. Jackson Earle put together a standout performance as well, going 1-for-2 with an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Yellow Jackets got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Howard Payne got an RBI single from Earle, scoring Gifford from third base. The Yellow Jackets were unable to hold the lead, as Carthage scored 13 times over the remaining six innings to grab the 13-1 win.
