BROWNWOOD, TX - The Howard Payne University men's tennis team fell 9-0 to the University of the Ozarks on Saturday at the Nabers Tennis Center.
The Yellow Jackets came out strong, but suffered a narrow loss in number one doubles with
Nicolas Gates and
Caleb Lambert falling 8-6. HPU would drop straight sets to the Eagles, but put up another tough set featuring
Michael Woodard and
Riley Harker dropping the number three slot 8-5.
Howard Payne could not find a point in singles, dropping all six spots in straight sets.
Sebastian Soria put up a strong effort in the number two singles despite losing 3-6, 6-4, 7-10.
Caleb Lambert did the same, but could not find the win in number three singles losing 6-7, 1-6, 3-7.
The Yellow Jackets will look to bounce back next Saturday as they close out their season with a double-header versus Austin College and McMurry University at the Nabers Tennis Center in Brownwood, Texas. HPU will be honoring all seniors on the men's and women's teams as well.
