BROWNWOOD, Texas -- The Howard Payne Lady Jackets were not able to notch a run against Ozarks pitcher M. Lucio on Saturday despite recording five hits and were shut out 1-0 by the Eagles.
Bree Cason (8-12) got the ball to start for Howard Payne (11-18, 4-13) and took the loss. The right-hander went 10 innings, giving up one run on four hits, allowing two walks and striking out five.
Offensively, the Lady Jackets were led by Jayden Falcon, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a double and a walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Howard Payne managed two chances with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 0-for-14 with runners in scoring position. The Lady Jackets last got a runner on third in the tenth, when Sydney West made it 60 feet away from scoring with nobody out.
