BROWNWOOD, TX - The Howard Payne University women's tennis team defeated the Ozarks 5-4 in a crucial conference matchup on Saturday at the Nabers Tennis Center in Brownwood, Texas.
The Lady Jackets were able to set the tone in doubles, as
Victoria Ramos and
Nina Delafuente earned an 8-0 victory in the number one slot.
Zoe Sprayberry and
Mikayla Hernandez were not able to pick up the win in number two doubles, losing 8-3. HPU would go on to lose the three spot by default.
Victoria Ramos continued her fantastic day, defeating Ja'Liyah Bradford 6-3, 6-0 in number one singles.
Nina Delafuente kept the pressure on the Eagles as well, earning a 6-2, 6-1 win in the number two slot.
Zoe Sprayberry locked in the number three singles with a 6-1, 6-4 victory, while
Kaylee Mcleod sealed the deal with a crucial 7-5, 6-2 four slot win.
The Lady Jackets will look to pick up right where they left off, as they host a double-header next Saturday versus Austin College and McMurry University at the Nabers Tennis Center. All HPU men's and women's tennis seniors will be honored as well.
