AUSTIN, Texas -- Tanner Benson went 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Howard Payne Yellow Jackets in an 8-2 loss to the Concordia (TX) Tornados on Saturday.

Anthony Cook (2-3) came out of the bullpen for Howard Payne (13-25, 6-18) and took the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 1-0, the Yellow Jackets first put runs on the board in the fifth inning. Howard Payne plated two runs off of Concordia (TX) pitching, one of which was driven in on a run-scoring double off the bat of Luke Brock. The Yellow Jackets were unable to hold the lead, as Concordia (TX) scored seven times over the remaining four innings to grab the 8-2 win.

This caps the 2024 season for the Howard Payne University baseball team. The Yellow Jackets finished with a 13-25 record while going 6-18 in conference play. Despite the 13-25 record, HPU would finish the regular season with a 10-9 home record at Don Shepard Park.
