HPU Women's Basketball Battles Austin College in Return Home
BROWNWOOD, Texas – Less than 24 hours removed from a road matchup in Abilene, the Howard Payne University women's basketball team showed plenty of grit in their quick turnaround, hosting the Austin College Kangaroos Friday evening inside the Brownwood Coliseum.

Despite the tough schedule swing, the Yellow Jackets put together stretches of strong defensive pressure and a late offensive push but ultimately came up short.

Caitlyn Panuco led the way for HPU, delivering a standout 24-point performance built on aggressive drives and timely perimeter shooting. She added seven rebounds and knocked down 8-of-12 from the free-throw line, providing steady scoring throughout the night.

Caitlyn Parsons gave the Jackets another reliable presence inside, finishing with 14 points and a team-high 9 rebounds, battling on both ends and helping HPU to a 38–34 advantage on the boards.
Freshman guard Amaris Ambriz added five points and a pair of key buckets, while Kaley Nicholson and Taylor McAfee combined for eight steals as HPU forced Austin College into 19 turnovers.

After trailing early, the Jackets surged in the fourth quarter with their most productive offensive frame, outscoring the Kangaroos 18–16 and generating several transition opportunities off defensive stops. The rally cut into the deficit, but Austin College managed to hold off the late push.

HPU will look to build on tonight's energy as they continue their homestand against Southwestrn University on November 25th.
