AUSTIN, Texas --The Howard Payne University Yellow Jackets fell 7-6 in an 11-inning matchup to the Concordia University Texas Tornados Friday.

Junior Kaleb Kuligowsk (0-1) took the loss on the mound for Howard Payne (0-1). Junior Trevor Rangel was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going 2.2 shutout innings while allowing one hit, walking none and striking out three.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 2-0, the Yellow Jackets first put runs on the board in the fifth inning. Howard Payne scored three runs in the frame, highlighted by a two-RBI double from senior Seth Bowman.

The Tornados then tied the ballgame at three before the Yellow Jackets came back to reclaim their advantage in the seventh inning. Howard Payne scored three runs, all of them coming on a three-run homer off the bat of senior Jackson Earle, scoring senior Grant Pfaff and Bowman, which brought the Yellow Jackets lead to 6-3. The Yellow Jackets were unable to hold the lead, as Concordia Texas scored four times over the remaining four innings to grab the 7-6 win.
