GAME 1 | Lyon 15, Howard Payne 14
BATESVILLE, Arkansas --The Howard Payne Yellow Jackets fell 15-14 in an eight-inning matchup to the Lyon Scots Friday.
B. Read (0-1) took the loss on the mound for Howard Payne (3-5). L. Watkins was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going 2.2 innings, surrendering one run on two hits, walking one and striking out four.
In the batter's box, the Yellow Jackets were paced by L. Prestage, who went 2-for-5 on the day with a double, a home run and five RBI. G. Pfaff compiled a standout day at the plate as well, going 3-for-5 with a double, a home run and two RBI. E. McNair also chipped in for Howard Payne, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding three walks and two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Yellow Jackets got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Howard Payne's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a three-run home run off the bat of Prestage.
The Yellow Jackets lost the lead they built in the first, but got back on the board in the third trailing 9-4. J. Earle came across to score the lone run of the inning for Howard Payne, which tightened the Scots lead to 9-5.
Howard Payne kept the Scots off the scoreboard before rallying to snatch a 13-9 lead in the fourth. The Yellow Jackets bats heated up in the inning, scoring eight runs, including a two-run home run off the bat of Pfaff and a two-run double from H. Rasnick-P.
The Scots then tied the game at 13 before Howard Payne came back to retake their advantage in the sixth inning. T. George crossed home plate with the lone run of the inning for the Yellow Jackets, bringing the Howard Payne advantage to 14-13. The Yellow Jackets were unable to hold the lead, as Lyon scored two times over the remaining two innings to grab the 15-14 win.

BATESVILLE, Arkansas --The Howard Payne Yellow Jackets took a 3-0 lead in the first inning and never trailed from there on the way to a 5-4 victory against the Lyon Scots on Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Yellow Jackets got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with two runs in the top of the first inning. Howard Payne's offense produced a three-run output that included back-to-back homers from J. Garza and S. Bowman.
The Scots failed to push any runs across before the Yellow Jackets offense got back to their scoring ways the next inning. Howard Payne scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Bowman, which brought the Yellow Jackets lead to 4-0.
Lyon narrowed Howard Payne's lead to 4-3 before the Yellow Jackets stretched the advantage to 5-3 in the sixth inning. Lyon put one run on the scoreboard before the game was over, but Howard Payne still held on for the 5-4 win.

Offensively, the Yellow Jackets were led by G. Pfaff, who went 1-for-2 on the day with two walks and two RBI. L. Prestage compiled a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI. E. McNair also chipped in for Howard Payne, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding a walk.
