SEGUIN, Texas --The Howard Payne Yellow Jackets fell 6-5 in a 10-inning matchup to the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs Wednesday.
T. Rangel (0-1) came out of the bullpen for Howard Payne (4-8) and took the loss. B. Read was a bright spot for the Yellow Jackets, coming out of the bullpen as well and throwing three innings, giving up one run on three hits, with no walks and one strikeout.
In the batter's box, the Yellow Jackets were paced by H. Rasnick-P, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a home run, a walk and two RBI. S. Bowman put together a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Yellow Jackets got on the scoreboard first, starting in the second inning. Howard Payne plated two runs when Rasnick-P left the yard with E. McNair aboard.
The Bulldogs failed to push any runs across before the Yellow Jackets offense got back to their scoring ways the next inning. Howard Payne picked up a run on Bowman's two-out solo home run off of D. Vinton, which brought the score to 3-0 in favor of the Yellow Jackets.
Texas Lutheran narrowed Howard Payne's lead to 3-2 before the Yellow Jackets stretched the advantage to 5-2 in the fifth inning. The Yellow Jackets were unable to hold the lead, as Texas Lutheran scored four times over the remaining five innings to grab the 6-5 win.
