Howard Payne drops matchup with East Texas Baptist 15-5 in 8 innings

BROWNWOOD, Texas --The Howard Payne Yellow Jackets fell 15-5 in an eight-inning matchup to the East Texas Baptist Tigers Saturday.

K. Swan (0-3) started and took the loss on the mound for Howard Payne (7-22, 0-8).

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Yellow Jackets were trailing 2-0 in the first inning when they first put runs on the board. Howard Payne got an RBI single from J. Garza, scoring G. Pfaff from third base.

The Yellow Jackets deficit grew to 11-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the third inning. Howard Payne scored once on an RBI single off the bat of W. Burford, which tightened the Tigers lead to 11-2.

Howard Payne kept the Tigers off the board before narrowing the gap to 11-5 in the fourth. The Yellow Jackets were unable to get any closer, as East Texas Baptist added four runs to their tally on the way to a 15-5 final.
