ABILENE, Texas --Senior Landon Prestage went 2-for-3 for the Howard Payne Yellow Jackets in a 17-2 loss to the Hardin-Simmons Cowboys on Saturday.

Senior Jack Shackelford (0-2) started and took the loss on the mound for Howard Payne (9-30, 1-15).

At the plate, the Yellow Jackets were led by Prestage, who went 2-for-3 on the day. Junior John Garza furnished a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 4-0, the Yellow Jackets first put runs on the board in the third inning. Senior William Burford came across to score the lone run of the inning for Howard Payne and get them on the board.

The Yellow Jackets deficit grew to 17-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the seventh inning. Howard Payne scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Garza, which brought the score to 17-2 in favor of the Cowboys. The ballgame ended with that seventh inning rally falling short.
