Howard Payne bounced back in a big way, turning in a strong all-around performance to secure a 57–35 win over Schreiner. After dropping its previous outing, HPU responded with energy and focus on both ends of the floor, building control of the game and never letting go. The Yellow Jackets held Schreiner to just 35 points and steadily extended the margin across all four quarters to close out a convincing victory.
Howard Payne's offense was balanced, with several players delivering efficient performances. Caitlyn Parsons led the way with 11 points while also contributing nine rebounds and two assists. Taylor McAfee added 10 points and seven rebounds, giving HPU a strong presence inside. Caitlyn Panuco filled up the stat sheet with eight points and a team-high four assists, helping keep the offense moving. Kate Buchanan chipped in seven points, while Azaylee Santos scored six to round out the top contributors.
Defensively, Howard Payne set the tone early, limiting quality looks and forcing difficult possessions throughout the night. The Jackets outscored Schreiner in every quarter, highlighted by an 18-point third quarter that created separation and put the game firmly in HPU's control. The effort on the glass and unselfish ball movement reflected the response the team was looking for following its last game.
Howard Payne will look to carry that momentum into its next contest on the road, traveling to face Austin College on Jan. 6 (Tue) at 8:00 p.m.
