ABILENE, Texas - The Howard Payne University golf teams were in action on October 26-27, participating in the Abilene Invitational hosted by Hardin-Simmons University at the Live Oak Golf Club for the final event for Yellow Jacket golf in 2026.

The men's side finished in sixth place out of eight teams. Blake Owen (+5) finished just outside the top ten competitors, leading the team tied for 11th place. Rounding out the team scores Carter Guynes (+7) placed 14th, Froylan Agundiz (+11) tied for 21st, while Grant Drummond's (+19) second round score of +6 catapulted himself to 39th and Miken Hernandez (+20) finished the day in 41st. Despite some early struggles, the Yellow Jackets had a great second day of action, placing 3rd as a team with a round two score of +14.

Independently, Adin McDonald (+9) had a strong performance that placed him 18th in the field. Schreiner handily won the event with a team score of +8, over 15 strokes ahead of second place.

Competing individually, Nicole Sanchez (+42) paced the women in 33rd place, while Emilee Garcia (+66) finished 37th and Maylee Scott (+68) ended at 38th. Hardin-Simmons won the event with a team score of +57.
