SEGUIN, Texas- The Howard Payne University women's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to Texas Lutheran University on Saturday evening at Gustafson Field. The loss moves the Lady Jackets to 4-2 on the season.
Howard Payne was behind the eight ball early. Texas Lutheran controlled the offensive tempo and outshot Howard Payne 27-9 overall and 12-1 in shots on goal. The Bulldogs scored the opener in the 31st minute when Lilly Noblett found Natalia Cortez.
The Bulldogs extended their advantage early in the second half after Madison Herrera found the back of the net in the 56th minute, assisted by Aliyah Fonseca and Noblett. Cortez then scored two goals in quick succession to complete her hat trick.
Howard Payne's best offensive looks came from
Sarah Krusing, who fired two shots, including one that struck the post in the first half, and from
Alayna Lopez, who recorded the team's lone shot on goal.
Landry Combs started the match in goal and played the first half.
Cadence Tischler took over in the second half and made four saves.
