ROUND ROCK, Texas- The Howard Payne University women's soccer team lost to Concordia University by a score of 2-0 at Gustafson Field Monday evening.
Howard Payne outshot Concordia 25-17 and had six shots on goal in the match but couldn't find the back of the net.
The Lady Jackets had two chances in the first ten minutes through shots from
Sarah Krusing and
Abbie Wetzel, but ultimately, they fell behind after conceding a penalty in the 11
th minute. Graduate goalkeeper
Landry Combs saved the initial penalty, but the Tornadoes were able to capitalize on the rebound.
The bad luck continued for Howard Payne when
Kenzie Cameron's shot hit the crossbar and free kick was off target. Combs was crucial for keeping the scoreline close. She made four key saves in the first half to keep the scoreline at 1-0.
Concordia scored their second goal of the match in the 60th minute.
Cadence Tischler got a hand to it but wasn't strong enough to keep it out.
Alayna Lopez led Howard Payne with three shots on goal, while Cameron,
Kamaryn Feil and
Alec Alvarado also added one shot on target.
