FORT WORTH, Texas- The Howard men's soccer team (2-3-1) wrapped up its non-conference slate with a loss to Texas Wesleyan University (2-3-4) at Martin Field on Tuesday evening by a score of 5-0.
As this was the last game before the ASC conference game starts, Howard Payne put out a heavily rotated starting lineup, which included
Stephen Talley,
Erik Lemus and
Jasper Knight all making their first collegiate start.
Axel Gutierrez and

With the changes, Texas Wesleyan was able to benefit from the lack of chemistry. The Rams capitalized off the press the Yellow Jackets showcased the last couple of games and were able to score a goal off a counter in the sixth minute.
Texas Wesleyan then got their second and third goals in relatively quick succession, so the Yellow Jackets faced a 3-0 deficit by the 30
th minute. By halftime, the Rams scored five goals in the match.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Logan Laminack started the match for Howard Payne and made five saves. Sophomore goalkeeper
CJ Woodward came on for the second half and made three saves.
Up Next: The Howard Payne University men's soccer team will kick off ASC Conference play with a match up against University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Thursday at the Citizens National Bank Field at 7:30 PM.
