Biography
2021: Pitching 12 games for the Yellow Jackets, Xavier threw 35.1 innings and earned two wins. He recorded 35 strikeouts. Xavier ended the season with an earned run average of 2.55. He had a career-high 12 strikeouts at Sul Ross State. Xavier was named second team all-conference.
2020:Â Haines extended his career record to 8-1 overall on the mound over three seasons for the Yellow Jackets. In a shortened season, he started the 2020 season off 3-0 and with a 3.06 ERA. A two-time Academic All-Conference selection and ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Team honoree, Xavier has been involved in the HPU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and numerous other organizations.
2019: Went 3-0 on the mound for HPU in 20 appearances and one start. Haines struckout 19 batters and posted a 2.67 ERA for the season. He would record a season high four strikeouts in four innings versus Hawaii Pacific. He was an Academic All-Conference selection.
2018 (Independence CC): Xavier spent one season with the Pirates of Independence College in Independence, Kansas. He appeared in 18 games racking up 29.1 innings and striking out 18.
2017: Xavier appeared in 15 games for the Jackets racking up 24 innings and acquiring 18 strikeouts.
High School: A native of Belton, Texas, Haines graduated from Belton New Tech High School at Waskow in 2016. Helped lead his baseball team to two consecutive district championships his sophomore and junior seasons while being recognized as an academic All-District selection.
Personal: Majoring in education and wants to teach at inner city schools upon graduating from Howard Payne. Xavier is the son of Michael and Cora Haines and he has four siblings.
