Lady Wildcats are Championship bound

BROWNWOOD, Texas – Louisiana College upheld their No. 1 seed Saturday with 70-62 win over Hardin-Simmons University in the semi-finals of the 2011 American Southwest Conference Women's Basketball Championship Tournament.
Each team held a nine point lead in a game with 10 lead changes and seven ties. It was anyone's game until the LC Lady Wildcats outscored Hardin-Simmons 13-6 in the last 3:30 of the game.
LC's Kayla Guirdy led the charge late in the game, scoring seven of her teams last 10 points.Guidry finished with 13 points, four rebounds, four steals, and four assists. Roslyn Wilmer led LC with a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Five Cowgirls finished in double digits. Coco Cartwright led with 14 points, Whitney Enis followed with 12, Jasmine Lewis had 11. Lindsay Newcombe and Alexis Popelar finished with 10.
The Lady Wildcats will face Howard Payne in the Championship game at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27 at the Brownwood Coliseum.
