Jeff Dixon - 2020-21 HPU Sports Alumni Coach of the Year

Jeff Dixon - 20-21 Sports Alumni of the YearJeff Dixon has been a successful coach at every school he has served, garnering numerous District Championships, State Playoff appearances, and State Championships over 34 years of coaching.
 
Currently, the head football coach at Alvarado high school, Coach Dixon’s Alvarado teams have won four District Championships (2009, 2010, 2011, 2019), seven Bi-District Championships (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2015, 2016, 2019), two Regional Championships (2010, 2011), two Quarter-Final Championships (2010, 2011) and his team was a State Finalist in 2011.
 
His teams at Alvarado have also made 13 State Playoff appearances (2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019).
 
Serving as an assistant coach at other schools before Alvarado, Coach Dixon has been an interlocal part of State Championships in 2000 and 2003 at Katy High School, and District Championships and State Playoff appearances at Ennis High School, Rogers High School, and Southlake Carroll High School.
 
At Alvarado high school, Coach Dixon’s staff has been named District Coaching Staff of the Year five times (2005, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2019).
 
Currently the winningest football in Alvarado High School history, he was named the 3A Football Coach of the Year by TheOldCoach.com in 2013, All Johnson County Football Coach of the Year in 2010 and 2011, and the Alvarado Chamber of Commerce “Alvaradoan of the Year” in 2012.
 
He is also a member of the Katy ISD Athletic Hall of Honor as a student-athlete, class of 1982, and as a coach in 2000 and 2003.
 
Coach Dixon is currently a member of the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) Board of Directors and serves as a deacon at First Baptist Church of Alvarado, Texas.
 
Coach Dixon’s wife, Mandy Goldsmith Dixon, graduated from Howard Payne in 1987. She was a yell leader from 1983 through 1987.  Married the summer before Jeff’s senior year, Mandy was a Yellow Jacket yell leader from 1983-1987, serving as cheer captain and Jeff led as a football captain on the 1985 football team. 
 
Married for over 35 years now, their son, Tyler Dixon, is a 2015 graduate of HPU along with his wife Brandi is a 2013 HPU graduate. Their two other children are Maggie, married to Kegan, and their youngest, Faith, who is still at home.
