Stoney Patton came to Howard Payne in the spring of 2021 by way of Athens High School, where he served as an offensive coordinator one season.
Before Athens, Patton spent one season at Fairfield High School (2019-2020) as an offensive coordinator leading a high-powered rushing attack. He helped the Eagles to a 7-5 season.
Patton also spent one season as the offensive coordinator at Mildred High School. (2018-2019)
In 2017, Patton was the running backs coach at North Forney High School. The Falcons went 10-3 that season and were the Area Champions.
Patton spent two seasons (2015-2017) as a Secondary coach at Scurry-Rosser High School. In 2015 the Wildcats were Bi-District Qualifier.
From 2012-2014 Patton was the defensive backs and quarterbacks coach at Quinlan High School. In 2012 the panthers were district and bi-district champions.
A 2012 graduate of Ouachita Baptist, Stoney played running back before becoming an offensive assistant in 2010. The Tigers won the 2010-11 Great American Conference Football Championship.
