Terell Sims came to Howard Payne in the Spring of 2023 from Sul Ross State, where he helped lead the Lobos to an ASC-leading passing offense in 2022. The Lobos finished the 2022 season as the #1 passing offense in the ASC (#14 in the nation).

Serving as receivers’ coach and pass game coordinator at Sul Ross, Coach Sims coached three All-Conference receivers in 2022.

He previously served as wide receivers coach for Valdosta State University in 2021. While also coaching punt and kick returners, Sims had one All-American receiver and two All-Conference receivers with over 1,000 yards each in his time at Valdosta State.

Sims has worked as a receivers coach at Eastern Illinois University (2020-21), Virginia State University (2019-20), and assistant receivers coach positions at Florida A&M University (2016-17) and Florida International University (2014-16).

He graduated from Florida International University with a degree in Sports Management and Recreation in 2016 before completing a Master’s degree in Business Administration at St. Leo University in 2020.
