Mercedes Corona

Mercedes Corona, a fall 2012 graduate of Schreiner University, began serving as the assistant coach for the Howard Payne University women’s basketball program in the summer of 2013.

Mercedes played three seasons at Schreiner University and graduated early, not playing her final season of eligibility. She worked as the recruiting/film coordinator intern for the women’s basketball team under then head coach Matt Wallis her final year at Schreiner.

In 2011-12, Mercedes also worked with the Schreiner sports information department keeping stats and event staff helping with game day operations.

A 2009 graduate of Granger high school, there she was named All-Region and District Offensive MVP. Since high school, she has been involved with many community events including working basketball camps, volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club and serving as a YMCA youth basketball coach.
