A Howard Payne graduate and former captain of the HPU women's golf team, Lucas returns to her alma mater bringing a unique blend of leadership, organizational excellence, and hands-on golf experience. Her deep roots in the Heartland and firsthand understanding of Howard Payne's mission position her well to lead the program into its next chapter.
Lucas most recently served as Tournament Director and Junior Golf Coordinator at Brownwood Country Club, where she coordinated tournaments, managed budgets, worked directly with rules officials, and oversaw event operations from start to finish. In that role, she also served as head coach for the Brownwood Junior High golf team, conducting tryouts, providing instruction, and traveling with athletes to competitions.

"Her enthusiasm for building a first-class golf program is contagious, and her insatiable thirst for providing a stellar student athlete experience truly stands out. Morgan understands what it means to compete with excellence while developing the whole person, and we are excited to see her lead our golf program with passion, purpose, and a commitment to doing things the right way."
Lucas' background extends beyond the course, with professional experience in office management, event coordination, and public facing leadership roles that required strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to perform under pressure. She is well versed in GolfGenius and GHIN systems and is known for her collaborative, service oriented approach to leadership.
As a student athlete at Howard Payne, Lucas earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management, was a Heart of Texas Scholarship recipient, and served as captain of the women's golf team, gaining valuable experience in team leadership and competitive preparation.
"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to return to Howard Payne University and lead the golf program at a place that means so much to me," Lucas said. "HPU helped shape who I am today, and I am excited to pour into our student athletes by helping them grow in their faith, compete with confidence, and represent this university with pride on and off the course."
Lucas steps into the role with a passion for mentoring young golfers, building strong team culture, and developing student athletes holistically while competing at a high level. Her hiring reflects Howard Payne Athletics' continued commitment to excellence and investing in leaders who understand the mission and values of the University.
