Lady Jackets Blowout TLU By 80

BROWNWOOD, Texas – Second-ranked Howard Payne University Lady Jackets dropped the Texas Lutheran 102-22 Thursday evening at the Brownwood Coliseum.

Howard Payne center Stacey Blalock surpassed 1,000 points in her career at HPU in the game (now 1,010).

Howard Payne moved its overall record to 14-0 and its American Southwest Conference West Division mark to 10-0. TLU fell to 0-14 overall and to 0-10 in the ASC West.

HPU led 45-12 at the half and opened the second half with a 46-2 run. HPU scored the first 25 points of the second half.

All-American Meia Daniels led all scorers with 23 points. She added seven assists, six rebounds and three steals.

Kimberly Hoffman and Stacey Blalock each added 16 points for the Lady Jackets. Stephanie Brewer had 13 points and Hope Hohertz had 12 points and 9 rebounds. Elaine Hobbs came off the bench for HPU and grabbed 11 rebounds.

HPU out-rebounded TLU by 38, 58-20. The Yellow Jackets had more offensive rebounds (24) than the total rebounds (20) grabbed by the Bulldogs.

TLU committed 37 turnovers and shot 17.3 percent from the field. Jessica Macias led TLU with seven points. Krystal Valencia had a team-best four rebounds.

The Lady Jackets will take on Schreiner University at home on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
