Lady Jackets Go 5-1 At LeTourneau Tournament

LONGVIEW, Texas - The Howard Payne softball team improved their record to 5-3 on the season this weekend after picking up 5 wins at the LeTourneau University Tournament.

The Lady Jackets posted wins over Austin College, Huntingdon (2), Cornell College, and Mount Marty College.

Howard Payne got great performances from pitcher Jenna Middleton and pitcher/outfielder Kate McLaughlin. Middleton went 2-0 for the weekend posting a 0.39 ERA. She gave up just 10 hits and 4 runs in 23 innings pitched. McLaughlin pitched and play in the field. She only gave up 3 hits and 1 run in 13 innings. Hitting she was 6 of 15 recording 6 hits and scoring 6. Lauren Vesely hit well for the Lady Jackets going 8 of 21 at bats, 8 hits, 7 RBI, and 2 doubles.
